Web Template

Buy this Template at FrontPageTools.com

This web template will help you to easily create a web. When you are making a new web (File / New / Web), just be sure to select the "ProChrome" web template. You may want to preview the web in a browser before you start working (File / Preview in Browser). Then, begin customizing the web structure to fit your needs by adding and deleting pages!

To add pages, see instructions on the main.htm page on saving a copy of the pages.

To delete pages, right-click on the page in the Folder List and select Delete (or go to Edit / Delete). You may wish to do this with some of the pages in this template that you don't need.

You may change the navigation structure by going to Navigation view.

About the Splash Page

The Splash page (default.htm) is currently the only page in the very top level. It is also FrontPage's "home" page. If you do not want to use the Splash page, you may delete it from your navigation structure. If you do not want to delete the other pages, you will have to move them. They are currently child pages of the Splash page, so drag them to the same level as Splash so that they are separate. Then delete the Splash page. You will then have to create a new home page. Either rename one of your existing pages or create a new page and name it "default.htm". Don't forget to drag it into your navigational structure!

You may customize the Splash page with your own text! This page is your "home," so you may want to consider having information like "recent news" or "how to use this site." Edit the Splash image with your own information.

Warning: Do not change the tables!

These page templates have been carefully put together in tables so that they will look good in Netscape and Internet Explorer. If you want your site to look like these, do not drag any of the main table borders! This will cause your page to look "cut off."

About this Page Layout

Mix of One-column and Two-column Layout

This section has two-columns. You may move this section to any part of the page. Click within this box and go to Table | Select | Table. Then click, hold, and drag to where you want to place it.

If you want your whole page to be a two-column layout, simply delete the text above and below this table.

If you don't want this two-column table, highlight the cells, right-click, and select Delete Cells.

Left-side Info Area

This space is limited to the size of the graphic. Be sure to limit the amount of text that you put in there. To replace this graphic with a blank image (with the pipe), right-click below this inner table and select "Cell Properties." For the background graphic, select "left_graphic_blank.gif"

Top Graphic

If you want to get rid of the top graphic, click on it, right-click and select Picture Properties. In the "Picture Source" field, replace "top_graphic.gif" with "spacer.gif". Then click on the "Appearance" tab. Uncheck the "Keep Aspect Ratio" box and type in the width as 258 and the height as 88. Make sure that the "Specify Size" box is checked.

Info Box

Put highlighted info here! This box is useful for information that you want to stand out!

To get rid of this table or column, highlight these cells and delete them.

Cascading Style Sheet
Use the "infotitle" class for the Info Box titles and the "infobox" class for the info box text. This will make your page display correctly in Netscape.

To make more copies of the info box, you will have to go into the HTML. Click inside the Info Box and then go into HTML view. You will hopefully be in the correct area and you will see a greyed-out line that says <!-- begin info box -->. Scroll down until you can see a similar grey line that says <!-- end info box --> and highlight the entire section. Copy this text. The tricky part is figuring out where to put the code.  Scroll around in HTML view and you should see more grey lines that will give you an idea of where you are.

Home and Email buttons

The Home button links to your main page (not the splash page). To link the home button to your splash page instead, click on the Home button and type Control-K (or right-click and select Hyperlink Properties). Then replace "home.htm" with "default.htm".

You will have to link the E-mail button to your e-mail address. Click on the E-mail button and type Control-K. Then click on the envelope icon and type in your e-mail address.

If you don't want the Home or Email buttons, replace them with the images below. Delete the Home and Email buttons, then drag these images to replace them.

Cascading Style Sheet

This theme should be applied with "cascading style sheets" checked. The cascading style sheet in this theme controls the font colors and sizes.

One issue that you may come across is that your first paragraph in a table will not have any style applied. (You can tell this when the font size seems larger than other paragraphs on the page.) This is because FrontPage does not automatically put the first paragraph in a table cell into HTML paragraph tags. To fix this, either make the text into a Heading, or go into HTML view and put a "<P>" immediately before the text of the paragraph.

Info Box

To make things easier for you, we put another info box down here! If you want to get rid of this box, highlight these cells and delete them. It's that easy!
