FrontPage and Commission Junction Technology
The Tutorial - Part 1
Step 1: Understanding the Process
The first step in all of this, simply, is understanding
the process. To do that, first, we must understand
three terms:
Templates - There is no need to create Web pages
from scratch every time you want to add something new to
your site. Use Web page templates for goodness sake
- you use templates everywhere else in the "real
world!"
Included Pages - A powerful element of
FrontPage. We hit on them a little bit in a previous
FrontPage
World Tip. In short, they allow you to create a
small page that can be included in a new of other pages so
that when you change the small page, all the other pages
change as well. The top and bottom of this page (and
pretty much any other page at FrontPage World) use
Included Pages. The banner ad you see between the
two bars above you, that is on an included page as
well.
Smart Zones - The official definition from
Commission Junction is "A SmartZone is a
“space” that you reserve on your site and then drop
products, banners, and other links into easily though your
Account Manager. This prevents you from having to replace
each merchant link manually in your HTML."
For the time being, that is a sufficient explanation.
The second step is in getting an account with Commission
Junction. If you have already done this, great.
If you haven't: Join the Commission Junction
affiliate program!
The third step is in making sure that you have a copy of
FrontPage 2000. If you don't, our FrontPage
2000 page can set you up there.
In short, the process of combining the best of FrontPage
Technology with the best of Commission Junction technology
is in:
Creating a template-based Web site
that uses SmartZones for Advertising
Remember that one, it will take you
far. How do you do that?
